OUR WORK
Tutoring
We provide structured tutoring focused on building strong academic foundations. Support includes weekday face to face sessions in Hammanskraal, online tutoring sessions, and weekday digital support via WhatsApp. Our tutors work closely with learners to improve understanding, consistency, and confidence, while encouraging regular attendance and parental involvement.
Mentoring
Our Mentorship Programme supports learners beyond the classroom. Through consistent guidance from committed mentors, many of whom are alumni, learners receive personal, academic, and emotional support. The programme focuses on discipline, confidence, leadership, and life skills to help learners navigate school and prepare for life after matric.
Career Guidance
Our Career Guidance programme helps learners make informed decisions about their futures. From Grade 9 onwards, we support learners with subject choices, career exposure, one on one guidance, and application support. We work closely with each learner to align their strengths and interests with realistic post matric study or work opportunities.
About Us
Life After Matric (LAM) is a non profit organization established in 2012 by young residents of Hammanskraal who were studying at different academic institutions. What began as small career guidance workshops for high school learners has grown into a structured support program focused on tutoring, mentoring, and career guidance.
LAM was created to address a clear gap. Many learners perform well at school but lack consistent academic support, exposure to career options, and guidance on subject choices and post school pathways. Our goal is to help learners not only pass, but to understand their strengths, build confidence, and make informed decisions about their future.
We support township learners from primary school through matric, offering tutoring, mentorship that encourages discipline and personal growth, and early career guidance from Grade 9. Our approach is practical, consistent, and rooted in the learner’s context.
Life After Matric is community driven. Many of our tutors and mentors come from similar backgrounds as the learners they support. We measure success not only through improved results, but through confidence, consistency, and clarity about life after school.
